We’re delighted to announce that Dr Megan Smith has become EveryDoctor’s third Director.
Currently practicing at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Megan qualified as a doctor in 2003. She began her career in anaesthetics in 2006, and has been a consultant anaesthetist since 2015. Prior to studying medicine, Megan was a practicing barrister. She graduated with a First in law (LLB) in 1993, was called to the Bar in 1994 and practiced until 1997 when she started medical school.
Megan first joined the EveryDoctor staff team as Head of Law and Policy part-time in September 2020, overseeing our legal advice service and our court case with The Good Law Project against the government. She joins current co-directors; Dr Georgina Wood, a specialty registrar in medical oncology, and Dr Julia Patterson, our founder and Chief Executive.
As Co-Director, Megan is most excited about continuing to build this incredible movement of like-minded people who are passionate about the NHS and what it means to those who work in it and use it. She looks forward to continuing to support and grow EveryDoctor’s network of UK doctors and supportive members of the public for years to come.
Megan has been an incredible asset to EveryDoctor ever since joining. Alongside providing indispensable legal counsel to more than 50 of our members over the last year, she’s also penned countless press articles, given TV interviews and made valuable contributions to strategy and governance decisions. There is no one better placed to take this step up and help lead EveryDoctor into our next chapter.
